Every Summer at Roton Point
In addition to our social calendar of dances, dinners, porch luncheons, special events, and frequent "Music in the Grove" performances, every year brings something new to Roton Point. These events, and more, help mark the course of every fun summer!
MAY
Club Opening & Commissioning:On Memorial Day, we raise the flag, fire off the cannon, and start the summer season! Followed by a delicious potluck reception for all members on the hotel porch, it's always a great way to reconnect with old friends and make new friends as well.
JUNE
Davis Cup Tournament:
A fun tennis tradition every year, as members (men and women alike) form into teams representing different countries to compete for "Davis Cup" honors. Anything can happen -- a few years ago, our "Scotland" team won it all!
JULY
Fireworks:
Along with other nearby coastal associations and clubs, Roton Point is a generous financial contributor to the beautiful 4th of July fireworks show put on by the Rowayton Civic Association. Fired from a barge moored just off our picnic grove, the fireworks are reflected in sparkles in the waves below.
Family Campout Night:
Set up your tent in the grove and enjoy a night of food, games, movie, s'mores, and -- eventually -- sleep, as the waves lap the beach.
AUGUST
Roton Point August Events:
The pace slows down, and August brings something different each year. Recent past events have included an Antique Car Show (vintage cars on display by Roton Point members) and a Roton Point Art Show (local artists and members display their work - paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry - much of it with a distinct Roton Point theme). Whatever new events the club offers, August always includes some great performances by local musicians in our summer-long "Music in the Grove" series!
SEPTEMBER
Franks for the Memories:
A tasty tradition! And what better way to look back over the past summer than with free hot dogs in our picnic grove, served up by our board members?
Multihull Regatta:
Drawing racing catamarans from up and down the eastern shore, next summer our 2022 regatta (our 62nd!) will bring together boats and racing teams for two days of racing and fun. And as always, Saturday night, sailors and Roton Point members enjoy a great end-of-summer dinner and dance!
